Andy Goodrich’s life is turned upside down when his wife enters rehab, leaving him alone with their young children. Goodrich relies on Grace, his daughter from his first marriage, as he finally becomes the father she never had. “I wrote it 100 percent with him in mind,” she said, “to the point that if he had said no, I would have buried the paper and myself in the backyard.” 180° during the breakfast scene. Andy: If life isn’t kicking your ass, it isn’t doing its job.

Well, we’ve seen just about every Michael Keaton type out there, haven’t we? We’ve seen Batman Keaton, we’ve seen Birdman Keaton, we’ve seen The Founder Keaton, etc. This is him treading comfortable but dramatic waters as the father of a 36-year-old man and 9-year-old twins. The film examines the subject of modern parenting, particularly from the perspective of a workaholic and somewhat absent father.
And the movie never does that
But since we’re talking about "attached" here, can he be the villain par excellence? No. There’s the occasional witty quip, but Goodrich doesn’t really aim for comedic heights. It’s a drama through and through, with Keaton and Mila Kunis doing most of the work.
