Katie, a freelance video editor in need of work, receives a high-paying offer from an anonymous employer to edit a mysterious and bizarre video. Struggling for money and evicted, Katie eagerly accepts the gig. The video even features people being tortured and murdered on camera—a truly elaborate fabrication. But when her first job leads to an even more lucrative job and a disturbingly realistic series of smell films, Katie’s life begins to unravel. Strange characters haunt her apartment, terrifying nightmares keep her awake, and a mysterious illness afflicts her cat. It’s only when Katie finally decides to quit her job that she discovers just how cruel her anonymous employer really is and how long it will take her to get out of her contract.
