Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and enter into contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent.

Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, housing for the workers (man camps), assemble the excavation machinery, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part fixer, problem solver, and mediator..
Smart, witty retorts are his forte
My review is purely based on the entertainment value of the show and whether it’s a waste of time. It’s obvious that Billy Bob Thornton makes the show with a strong supporting cast, so if expletives aren’t your thing, you probably haven’t seen Bad Santa or any of his other movies for the most part. The first two episodes are definitely entertaining, and I love the balance of humor and an unexpected WTF moment.
For that, I can appreciate it
I’d say it’s a strong enough start to make you keep watching. A dark show that almost seems out of place in today’s society, as everyone has to walk on eggshells with what they do or say so as not to offend anyone. In the series, Thornton’s 17-year-old daughter is sexualized a little, but after researching, 17 is the age of consent in Texas, where the series is set, but it’s still a little weird to me, which is why I didn’t give it a 10.
Other than that, it’s entertaining and not a waste of time
Hopefully the first two episodes set the tone for what’s to come, rather than just a taste of how the series falls apart as it progresses.
