Lee Miller: [Handing a knife to a girl she had just saved from rape] Next time, stop
Chronology
The story of American photographer Lee Miller, a model who became a renowned war correspondent for Vogue magazine during World War II. The film crew was given full access to Lee Miller’s archives, with the full cooperation and trust of the Miller family. Miller was denied entry to Hitler’s apartment because it was “for officers only.” War correspondents were given the rank of captain, so technically the US Army guard had to let her in.

The end credits contain some explanation of “what happened”; and some of Lee’s original photographs, often with subjects that were recreated for the film. I took the risk of watching 2 films that I knew next to nothing about. Strange Dear was fantastic and original, then I watched Lee.
But it doesn’t really bring anything new
Which has another strong lead, and it’s a good historical film. Kate Winslet is actually here, and she’s good. Especially towards the end of the film.
The plot is good too
It moves into the bigger part of the film, after a first half that’s a bit of filler. There are just a few questionable requests to liven things up a bit, because it’s a simple story. The romance isn’t the story here, so you can wait until you get to the parts that are more focused on the main WWII plot.
Overall, it’s a good film
There’s just nothing in it that gives it a boost to greatness.
